Colin Baker became the sixth actor to take on the role of the Doctor. From his first adventure in the Twin Dilemma, we are presented with a character full of energy, but also unpredictability. As his adventures continue, he becomes accustomed to his new persona, battling old foes such as the Cybermen, the Sontarans and even the dreaded Daleks. Whilst facing new foes aplenty including the Rani, the sinister slug Sil, the Borad, and the plant-like Vervoids but to name a few. But whilst Colin was getting to grips with the TARDIS, trouble was beginning to brew behind the scenes...
An 18-month hiatus almost cost the show its life, and when it did return, the series would quite literally be on trial for its life...
But how did the ratings hold up? Would they continue to hold steady at the levels seen in the Peter Davison era? Or would viewers not take to this new, unpredictable character, and switch off to other programmes on different channels? And even after the extended break, would Doctor Who achieve its triumphant return? Join me, as we delve into the Colin Baker Years, and find out!
