Hey, stop bandaging that, it tickles!

Hey guys, welcome back to Freddy Plays, today we’re doing things a little differently! Todays episode, instead of being recorded live with commentary, will be a bit of my gameplay from the new Tom Clancy game, Ghost Recon: Wild Lands, with my opinions on the game, and my first impression from the open beta.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wild Lands is Ubisofts newest game in the Ghost Recon franchise, placing you and a team of upto 3 friends in the middle of the Bolivian jungle, pitting you against an entire drug cartel. You have complete autonomy to take the enemy down as required, which means you’re able to tackle a mission however you see fit. Your overall objective is to wipe out 2 of the 4 underbosses in the region in an attempt to lure out, and kill, the big boss. As you traverse the country, you will come across supplies you can tag for the local rebels, gaining you allies in the region, uncover new weapons and weapon components to upgrade current equipment, and immerse yourself in the truly amazing world that surrounds you.

Wild Lands was fun to play, but I don’t think I would rush out and buy it, not yet anyway.
I felt like the game was going to get quite repetitive and kinda boring as we pushed into hour 3, with little variation on enemy numbers or equipment, and no new challenges until we attacked the UNIDAD forces. The cartel soldiers were all quite generic and offered little challenge once flagged on your map. I would expect (and again, maybe out of beta this will change…?) that in a gun battle, there would be one soldier who would call for back up, I mean the drug lords own this country at this stage, they should be everywhere. But instead, you face small groups of enemies, usually about 5 at a time, and once they’re dead, they’re dead. No back up, you can just wander the streets gathering supplies.

I also think the vehicle sections could use a little extra love.
Is it funny to launch a four wheel drive down a mountain and full tilt, flip a dozen times, land perfectly and drive away in one piece? Yeah, of course it is! Especially with a friend in the boot! But does it also take away from the realism you’re trying to establish with the rest of the game? Yup, it sure does!
At one point, unfortunately I didn’t record this, I clipped a bolder whilst on a motorbike….
This didn’t end well.
My character flew over the handle bars, and glided just above the ground as though waiting for me to open a parachute having jumped out of a helicopter, for about 100 meters, before going splat at the bottom of the hill.
Anyway…
Those were my first impressions of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wild Lands.
I hope you enjoyed 

I don’t often even consider doing reviews like this, as I prefer for to have me reacting to things as they happen, so I’m sorry if I sound a little disjointed on this bad boy, but it was sort of a learning experience for me. I’m not sure when I will do another review style video like this one, but if you have anything you think I should do/change, let me know!
