CoD WW2 Zombies is the second Zombies mode by Sledgehammer games.. Here’s five things it did wrong.

#5: While the armor system removed Juggernog as a crutch perk, it can also be a punishing system. If you play aggressively and get hit a lot, you’ll very likely hate this system.

#4: WW2 was the first game to have a real problem with special enemies and bosses constantly spawning. The first map has four special enemies that spawn regularly and attack the player, which is a lot.

#3: The developers made a lot of attempts to infuse survival horror elements into the game, especially early on. The heads of Sledgehammer at the time worked on Dead Space, one of my favorite games of all time, so they knew what they were doing, but it didn’t work in the context of a wave shooter.

#2: WW2 Zombies is the third Zombies game in a row to feature monetized gameplay. I don’t need to explain why this is a bad thing. Everyone is sick of loot boxes in video games, especially in a game where you already had to buy $50 worth of DLC on top of the $60 base product.

#1: There’s a lot of content in WW2 Zombies that’s locked behind Easter Eggs. It’s fine when it’s just cosmetics, but four entire maps are locked behind completing various Easter Eggs. That’s half of the available map selection.
