This is a new and improved version of my Ultima V speedrun without saving!

Run was performed using DOSBox 0.74-3, Cpu speed: 3000 cycles, Frameskip 0 (These are the default settings.)

Special thanks goes to NLeseul who submitted a run to speedrun.com. That video gave me some ideas for improvements along with the motivation to work on an optimized run. After a bit of grinding and luck (favorable RNG), I was able to pull off this sub-23-minute run. I think a 22-minute run is certainly possible if you are lucky and don't make mistakes; however, I don't think I'm willing to grind enough to get there.

Timestamps/SPOILERS are below.

I was a little thrown off at the end in Doom. I was really lucky the center sandtrap left a corpse, but I was unlucky the mongbat left a chest (even though I had a contingency plan for that situation. I was a bit jolted after the mongbat damage and knew I had a fast run going, so my movement toward the shark/wisp room is not great.

With the Avatar dead, the glass sword doesn't break, so I abuse that bug (feature?) a lot. I planned on exploiting the limit-to-items-in-opened-treasure-chests-on-screen game mechanic in Doom's sandtrap room (like in my "Ultima V speedrun without saving--35 minutes" video), but I ended up not needing to when the center sandtrap left a corpse instead of a chest. Four negate time scrolls are essential to this run.

Various things that have ruined some of my attempts:
- Bridge Trolls
- Breaking keys in Lord British's Castle
- Arriving at Stonegate too late / arriving at Britain too late
- Shadowlord of Cowardice of Hatred visiting Britain
- Incorrect blink spell direction/position
- Sea monster or pirate attacks while on frigate
- Bats and/or multiple enemies in Doom corridors
- Dying in Doom combat

I once almost died in Shame after my invisibility ring and both black potions failed.
