Umi Kairyu-Shin | Decklist & Replays
1Back in 2022, when Konami announced the cards that were coming Duels From the Deep set, I was hyped for the Umi support. But how does this support thrives now? Kinda. It's again one of those cases were Maxx "C" being banned makes a lot of difference.
As a card, the Kairyu-Shin retrain is a really, and I mean REALLY good card - both going first or second -. Even though it is a vulnerable boss monster, you're either floodgating your opponent going first or clearing their board with his lingering floodgate effect when going second (since it is activated on summon, nothing can really negate it before it gets to the field). As long as you've drawn the Legendary Ocean and Kairyu-Shin, you're set to go.
Still, the archetype struggles a little to set-up a big and powerful board other than being the floodgate that it is. So, in this list, Icejade, Tearlaments and Sharks helps us on creating some more protection to our board.
If you want a 40 card deck, I'd recomend taking out the Tearlament related cards and Fishborg. Even though they're good in this list, sometimes the aren't. That said, they're the usual gimmick part of the decks I come up with. Other than them, Fury of the Kairyu-Shin and Torrential Tribute are the other cards that could be put to the side, if you'd rather keep the Tearlaments package.
Definitely a fun archetype which has many ways to play with it (consider Legendary Fisherman board wipe and Mega Fortress Whale OTK), but without Maxx "C" or many draw/search cards like the Pots, sometimes it struggles to compete.
