Here is of my full playthrough of Super Ninja Boy done. Unfortunately I lost the first part of this playthtough. I starts from when I cross the bridge to Fairytown.
As always using original hardware on a Super Nintendo with no cheats or save states!
Follow me on instagram @Cabin_game_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES collection on their starting settings, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.

-Generic by name, generic by nature? In many respects yes I'm afraid so. Though a relatively rich series of games in Japan, the 'Super Chinese' saga only saw a handful of its litter released in the west. Having never played the NES original, I cant compare, though comparison maybe rather apt given, even with its early release date of 93, this shares alot more in looks with its 8-bit older brother than most of the systems richer offerings.
But looks aren't everything right? Well such is true but when gameplay fails to start any fires, there isn't really alot left to write home about.
In fairness, what the game attempts to offer is genuinely commendable. The mixture of platforming, dungeon crawling, beat em up and traditional turn based role play is certainly unique! It's therefore a shame its delivery often ranges from tiresome to utterly broken!
Take the beat em up stages. Much like River City Randsom (Street Gangs), the brawler environments are a surprise inclusion for the genre. Replacing random turn based fighting with real time brawling. It certainly feels like a more engaging way to force random encounters, however with just how buggy the environments in these sections can be, it's too often painful to watch yourself stick to the background, punch straight through powerups, get hit by projectiles miles off your horizontal plane or worst of all; the incredibly cheap assault your dealt through enemy attack spamming, often leaving you helplessly defenceless.
The action stages aren't a great deal better, with the clunky controls and unforeseen hazards proving a pain.
Still there's always a way to make light work of things it seems. Whether that be the incredibly over powered skills like Ninja Cyclone or the ability to simply fly over perils using a Dragon Egg, the game offers you the chance to man up or wimp out, the choice is yours!
The rare occasions turn based combat is used is reserved for the incredibly easy boss fights.
I guess it's worth mentioning the game does offer simultaneous 2 player, which was novel for its genre. Still simply being original isn't enough. There is a game here, just not a particularly good one!
