Spirits Abyss is like an Indie, Action Roguelike RPG take on Spelunky; it’s good!

So, You like Spelunky?
Course Ya Do!
Spirits Abyss is like a super vibrant, Pixel Art packing, more combat focused take on Spelunky!
Spirits Abyss has the random, destructible dungeons of Spelunky, packing the brave hero with a pile of big bombs to clear the way in their dungeon delving journey, along with pots and chest to smash open for sweet, sweet gold!
Blow gold out of walls, blow open walls to get access to more rooms with gold, or use thrown bombs to blow up the monsters guarding gold!
Blow em all! Show em who’s da boss!
Just get that gold!

Keep What You Kill:
Unlike Noita, your gold does not disappear here; Spirits Abyss dares not rob its brave heroes of their tough fought treasure, it would much rather just kill you instead!
Such Honor!
Beyond allowing you to keep your gold (until the dungeon kills you and reclaims its treasure), Spirits Abyss also gives you another form of in-run progression: earned character abilities.
Spirits Abyss is actually an RPG, allowing you to pick 1 of 3 character upgrades every lvl you clear; nice.
One run, I got bomb upgrade choices; things like Remote bombs, cursed bombs, or Necrosis bombs.
After clearing stage 2 upgrade, there was a main weapon upgrade, like a short range, sword projectile attack, some kind of guardian mech ability, or a life saving amulet; very nice.

Meta Progression:
While Spirits Abyss does have significant Meta Progression, none of it seems necessary to win a run; this makes it markedly very unlike the very Vertical Meta Progression of something like Rogue Legacy, or the seemingly never-ending tide of Vampire Survivors clones being churned out.
As you play Spirits Abyss, you can unlock: new classes, new skins, as well as 6 other unlockable game modes, but those are new ways of playing the game, not requirements for most to win it.
The Meta Progression in Spirits Abyss is firmly Horizontal, Not Vertical, thus, huge stacking bonuses to HP, attack, defense, and other abilities are simply not present.
Therefore, I would say that Spirits Abyss is firmly a Roguelike, not a Roguelite, as Meta Progression alone here will not propel you to victory; good.

Spirits Abyss also has these big, huge chests in the dungeon; blow em open to get unlocks; like a spooky, scary skeleton skin; fun!

Controller support is present, while mouse support is not, so if you want to play Spirits Abyss absent one, it will be two hands on keyboard; which is not my style; therefore, I recorded the above video using a gamepad, which felt great.

Local Co-op Multiplayer is present, in case that is something that interests you.
I’ll speak a bit about the Co- op here, as it is very odd.
In Co-op if player 1 dies, you both die.
You must both be the same class.
The 2 player share bomb usage
Remember: The camera follows player 1, not player 2; which easily results in player 2 being literally off the screen if they don’t keep up; so player 2 ought be a good little follower I guess.
Player2 can teleport to player 1 using Y
Player 2 cannot take damage; if they are hit, they are teleported to player 1
As I said, Co-op here is very odd, where player 2 is not so much another character, but more a phantasmal image of player 1, able to intact with their weapon and fight, but teleporting back to the original when struck.

Anyway, I like Spirits Abyss.
Spirits Abyss is like a super vibrant, Pixel Art packing, more combat focused take on Spelunky, with all the random, destructible dungeons and fun character upgrades to find to absolutely destroy the dungeon and get your gold!
Spirits Abyss is well worth a Wishlist and a watch.
