Advanced Busterhawk Gleylancer - PlayStation 4 - Intro & Playthrough SEGA Mega Drive version [4K]
Full gameplay longplay, playthrough, walkthrough, guide and trueplay of Advanced Busterhawk Gleylancer showing off the best ending in the original SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis Vintage mode. That's the version without the new mover / done controls, rewind feature and the all new English text! This is the old school version run on normal with no deaths, we'll leave it to you the viewer to unlock manic mode and finish it for yourself.
Gleylancer or Greylancer as it should be known as due to the Japanese often confusing the letters R and L in English text is an old school 2D arcade style shooter'em up. Released in 1992 it never left Asian markets only releasing in Japan and Korea. The game takes place over 11 stages and the plot sees Lucia a member of the Earth Federation Navy, stealing the GreyLancer prototype fight to search for and rescue her father, who's ship and crew were captured by the enemy menace. The story is told via some of the best animated art seen on the Mega Drive.
The game features two different ending pending on how you perform on stage 10, that said the bad ending is rather hard to get, so unless you a bad mover combination for that stage it's not hard to shoot down the enemy ship for the good ending. The characters were designed by Hiroshi Aizawa, who also redrew the cover artwork for the 2019 re-release of the game. While not the longest game the stage design is superb and hugely varied with each stage have a different look and feel. The music is also top quality with some enjoyable tunes for the system.
While the game is out classed by Thunder Force IV released around the same time it's still a excellent title for the system. This PS4 version includes both a vintage mode, which is the original Mega Drive game with only minor changes to the copyright and a new modern mode. That adds in new control functions which slightly alters the nature of the game as it allows you to control the direction of fire for the drones that orbit you ship. You can also direct control the speed and change and rewind the game undoing mistakes and practising on tough section. This new mode also features an official English Translation for the first time in-game.
With the original Mega Drive / Megadrive version of Gleylancer, now on the very pricey side this is a great way to pick up the game on modern systems at a budget price. For our review on this game that shows off both modes vintage and modern watch here: https://youtu.be/zrXFqC5gABE
