Zombie Revenge - SEGA Dreamcast - Opening Intro & Arcade Stage 1 & 2 Gameplay and bosses [4K60]
Halloween themed gameplay from this House of the Dead arcade spin-off title, which took the form of a scrolling beat'em up that mixed fist and gun combat. The plot follows three AMS agents Stick Breitling, Linda Rotta and Rikiya Busujima as they track down the mystery Zed. The game is packed full of nods to the original 1998 arcade House of the Dead with Rogan and G appearing on the the computer in the intro right at the start. An enjoyable, but flawed title the game had a rather high difficulty that meant plenty of practice was required, the fact the game allows you to start with 15 credits give you an idea of how hard it can be.
Added to this the Dreamcast version was lacking in new content original mode adds nothing in the way of new content and requires you level your character via the rather slow VMU mini-game which is based around a Tamagotchi style mini-game game. Finishing original mode lets you unlock a few bonuses like freeplay and infinite health. There is a really lack of extra content like hidden bosses, stages and bonus characters. Making it feel rather bare bones in turns of new content, there's let reason to do original mode if you beat arcade mode as a result.
Gameplay wise the combat is a bit lacking, you have a limited set of moves due to how the game mixes fighting and shooting. There a lack of combo moves and shooting is very much a waiting game, as you do the most damage when the target turns reds. It doesn't quite gel that well and combat can be a bit awkward at times and often not targeting the enemy you want and the game lacks analogue movement due to it's arcade origins. A fun game, but just didn't keep us coming back to it like the excellent Dynamite Cop which was packed full of bonus content.
The game went under a number of working titles before release including Blood Bullet: The House of the Dead Side Story, Zombies Nightmare and Zombie Zone. The game features two endings, but only the final scene in the ending is effected and it sololy depends if you saved Yoko the girl with the disc right at the start or not, either way she appears in both endings.
