Electric Boogaloo

I know I said I wouldn't do a video on it based on the difficulty but after a retry with experience (As indicated in the funny save name earlier), that's where I thought a video for this game is doable for me. Also I had to pause on recording because I had to take a piss break lol
I had to cut a piece of the gameplay out cause I charged my phone and the battery shows dead center in the screen and it didn't look right mid gameplay. Somehow my recorder captured that. Fucking raw.

Anyways let's go for the positives, I love the feature of locking on your targets with a press of the left trigger. A feature that would be revolutionized in the 2002 game. It kinda makes up for the lack of camera controls. First time I played it, it took me time to realize a feature like this was added. With that knowledge, it was a bit easier for me in shit like the Shocker fight. I swear I was so lucky to beat it on my first try in this recording. Because this boss has gotta be the hardest out of the 5 villains, mainly because he's fast and your game mechanics haven't been improved upon since the last game and the controls are still painfully delayed. So you are ridiculously vulnerable around an energetic boss. But I digress. Lizard fight is kind of a breeze and fun once you know what to do. Due to a certain tragedy that happened around the game's release, the world trade center, which where you fight the final boss, had been changed up into a bridge shaped building rather than two towers in the rerelease. I bring this up because that bridge actually makes the final boss more tolerable given the game's dated controls and how I fear Electro could snipe you in the air and you might end up falling between the towers. That bridge sector really benefit me a lot is what I'm saying.

And now for the negatives, I already talked about the shocker boss and how much of a time padder it would be for me if not for my knowledge on the target trigger. But let's talk about a few other levels I disliked. The 2nd and 3rd section of the science facility was fucking ridiculous. Whoever brought in this much security was hyper paranoid. I wouldn't think even Black Cat would be able to break in with this much overkill. It might as well be the game's equivalent to the sewers in the last game because of how much time was wasted for a game where you track Electro. I get Peter needed to information on what Electro's plan is as it's a build up to the end of the game but jesus. The level design just sucks in these sections given the unimproved controls.
The plane level wouldn't be so bad if shooting impact webs in the air wasn't inconsistent. The sandman boss fight was a waste of time. I'm sorry but he was not fun to face. He was annoying and took too much abuse. Even with my reliable web gloves. I could only accept his place if he had only been used for the train chase and that was it. I suppose the Sandman boss was added due to lack of time to implement a boss battle with The Beetle so that dude was pretty much wasted. Also Black Cat is completely absent. What a shame.

To me this is more like an expansion rather than a sequel based on it's inferiority and lackluster.
Unlike the first game there were no ports and based on the game's difficulty, maybe it's for the best. While it isn't the worst game in the series, I think it was inferior compared to the first game. Soon after this would be the last 3D Spider-Man game from Neversoft if you don't count the Tony Hawk games they make. There was a loose sequel for the GBA called Mysterio's Menace but besides that Activision pretty much shelved this version of Spidey in favor of capitalizing on the Tobey Maguire films that were coming up at the time. I am not familiar with Mysterio's Menace but based on what I played on emulator, it's primitive for an early GBA Spidey game. Just like the 3D Neversoft games.
