First major Spidey game and possibly the only one for a long time until I get better emulation or better specs.

I'll get the positives out first.
First 3D Spider-Man game. It's clearly a product for it's short temporal time and Stan Lee's narrations are a treat. Lots of fun easter eggs and references for comic book fans and even included the suit for the short lived Spider-Man Unlimited series. I find it funny how Spidey changes your save from a swear word to something more innocent. Shame the devs didn't cover every swear word so it's a bit loose in some areas. Believe me I would know me and my edgy teen brother tried. Venom was absolutely funny to watch and the music is definitely late 90s & early 2000s. I love it.

As for the negatives,
So far the only time padders I had to face in this game was with the long, on-going sewers, (Insert Civvie-11 count here) the Mysterio boss fight and the 2ndary level to Doc Ock's lair. Mysterio was a god damn gamble to face and it truly irritated me. The 2nd lair level further showed me how dated the web swinging is and it makes me thankful for what the 2002 game fixed. Actually that game fixed a lot of stuff people must've had problems with the Neversoft games. Maybe because I played the Raimi games first and the Neversoft games 2nd in my lifespan as a gamer but I did not like how jank and unreliable the web swinging is. The symbiote monsters are a fucking nuisance and worst when you get down to the Bugle's Basement. They take way too many hits to take down and even the reliable web gloves barely helps. Don't even get me started on the inconsistent aiming you have in your webbing and impact webs. That's how I got a lot of deaths with Mysterio and why this video is 2 fucking hours and 6GB.

There were obviously ports for this game, one for the PC and N64. In this video I used the highly ranked PS1 version. The N64 is probably the worst because 1, the controller and 2, everything is dark and you can barely see what the hell you are doing. I used to own that copy when I was 10. Stood out too for being red. But that's really it. The N64 version replaced the cutscenes with slideshows, albeit comic book styled sorta. gameplay is the same but the darkness makes things hard to navigate and the final level utter bullshit. PC was probably better than the N64 version but when playing on modern hardware, even on my low end laptop, the port broke a few scenes in the game. Like the 2nd part of the police chase where you fall in a crane. You will endlessly die unless you got a software to run the game the way it was originally designed for older PCs. Also on modern the visuals are messed up in certain areas so that's raw.

Now there is a sequel which I did try out yesterday and the day before and it's basically an expansion that cranks up the difficulty and I won't be doing a video on it because playing this would take more longer than the first game. Especially with the bullshit Shocker boss fight, the airplane level and the lab tower to reach for Doctor Conners. I was glad I played the release because the final fight with Electro would've been extremely shitty to playthrough given the unimproved mechanics and I would just get shot down in between what was supposed to be in the original version, the world trade center. Obviously scrapped for certain events everybody knows about.

I may not be able to try out the later 3D Spider-Man games anytime soon but I may try the handhelds if I get the right time to record. Depends what happens I supposed and whether these games are worth it for me to do a playthrough video on.
