1985, NES. Rating: 1 out of 4 stars

Baseball was one of the original Famicom games for Japan in 1983 and was part of the NES launch in 1985. That’s the biggest selling point for it today. It was designed to show the NES had versatility for many different types of games. That’s about all it has going for it. The game hits the fundamentals well enough, but it is a real slog to play. Hitting is scattershot and fielding, particularly in the outfield, is not much fun. A lot of cheap hits (for both sides) end up occurring as a result. As a barebones effort, it’s whatever, and maybe with a friend some laughs can be had. But they’re likely going to be at the game, rather than with it.
