- DLC Exhibition:
• This is a DLC weapon showcase video, so I will refrain from using (Air) Musou and (True) Rage Musou for offense. There are no 6-star or alternative 5-star DLC weapons on console for the western release.
- Analysis:
• When Paired Fans was introduced back in 8 Original, its offense was downright brutal even amongst the other busted weapons. With the post-nerf to elements in 8 XL, Paired Fans' effectiveness have toned down considerably, but still very good. Although the results are similar but nerfed, what changed the most is it now requires the player to actually try and flip enemies into the air for its Jump Charge (JC) offense as opposed to just JC spam. The major drawback of Paired Fans is its JC offense doesn't work well against Affinity disadvantage or electrified officers because they cannot be juggled. Rage will temporarily fix the Affinity issue, but not against electrified officers.
• Despite Paired Fans' airborne offense, it is actually quite safe from Musou-counter (not from projectile interruption, but can be manipulated through its mobility). With its ability to top off Musou + Rage fill through its main offense, it will rarely run dry. Even if Paired Fans gets Musou stunned in the air while Rage is active, pressing the Musou button (for some reason) will put the character back on the ground, giving it the opportunity to make a "grand escape." If this is done with other weapons in the air, this will have them immediately fall back to the ground with invincibility and automatically transition into Rage Musou.
• Speaking of "grand escape," Paired Fans has an uncanny fast travel method with "✕→✕→▢" (Jump→Jump→Normal Attack). This input will have the animation proceed with a "Jump→Dive→Tackle." Input it quickly and it will look something like this (0:25). Great for escaping while Rage is active since the character will have Hyper Armor. Outside of Rage, use Air Musou for safety. Because Paired Fans' Dash animation isn't like the traditional "double jump" Dash, this might take some time to get used to.
- Movesets:
• Jump Charge (JC) everything. With its vacuuming and multi-hit properties, this will build Flurry combos and refill Rage at a speed of light. It is almost illegal for Rage to refill that much and fast with one charge attack (3:58, etc.; just like Emei Piercers, it also needs around ~37 (⩾30) KOs to fill Rage, but quicker). Despite the lower base Attack on Weapon 2, a good JC hit with Induction + Explosive in a crowd can tear through officers. Note: JC requires multiple △ taps for its full animation.
• Switch Attack (SA) can be performed as Air SA, just like Meng Huo's Gloves. But just like the Gloves, both Paired Fans' SA and Air SA do not contain invincibility frames. Using SA before JC is one of many ways to lift enemies (1:02, etc.).
• Storm Rush is very possible. With an Affinity advantage, if officers are not outright KO'd, they probably have their Storm Rush gauge (close to being) shattered (11:02).
• [ *_Daqiao only_* ] Air Musou gimmick buff is an alternative method for her to lift enemies. Her synergy with Air Musou + JC is perfect. Just like the gimmick buffs explained in Flame Blade and Bladebow Analyses, any flinch (even Musou-counter) will have the buff disappear.
- Option(s):
• Double Triumph setup allows it to build Rage as fast as possible because of its Hyper Armor value (also great for Daqiao's Air Musou).
• To balance the damage setup because of slot issues, Jubilation is on the stronger weapon. Weapon 1 and Weapon 2 setup can be swapped for a more damaging setup on Weapon 1.
• Cyclone can be used over Induction since JC is blockable. It is mostly impractical for regular use due to the natural pushback from Cyclone offense. However, it is good for pileups where blocking officers can get shoved in by peons (minimizing the pushback).
• Musou Springs is to showcase Daqiao's Air Musou synergy with JC offense but can still be used on others to top off Musou for safety purposes. Alternatively, Accuracy can be used to boost JC physical damage (used on Xiaoqiao in Paired Fans vs extreme pileup video).
