Final Fantasy IV is the 4th game in the Final Fantasy series that first appeared on the Super Famicon in Japan in 1991. The west did not see it until it was released in 3D on the Nintendo DS, however the game has also received other releases, one of which is for the Sony PlayStation Portable in Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection which released worldwide in 2011.

Final Fantasy IV marks a departure from the previous games in the series primarily by changing up the way the battle system works, in addition to having a stronger focus on a character driven narrative. This was the first step forward toward the series becoming what it is today.

We join Cecil Harvey, a Dark Knight in service of the Kingdom of Baron who has recently begun to question his loyalty to his King, after being asked to partake in slaughter of a neighbouring kingdom, all in the name of procuring a relic that should never have been removed. As Cecil begins to question his place in the world, he stumbles upon allies that will assist him to uncover the plot behind the rise to power of his Kingdom, and his King's new found thirst for the Crystals.
