Boys and girls of the shaft- the flock? What should we go with? We had a lit stream the other day and the flock thing started, I like it, vote above! Anyway today we’re gonna be talking about what is perhaps ark’s most significant, important creature EVER to be added to the game EVER! The Gasbag, a little worm that has some secrets it doesn’t want getting out! But today we’re going to expose him! So hit that notification bell and stick around for the whole video because I’m about to blow your mind! Anyway as usual, let’s start with…

Taming! So how do you tame you a gasbag… Well it’s not easy! They’re like the creepers of ark! The second you look at em they’ll just puff up and explode! -No not really! The gasbag is a simple tranq tame with a slight twist. They take less torpor when they’re all sucked up. So the key is to wait till they’re deflated then hit them with tranqs. They’ll usually either suck then blow you to get some distance or they’ll suck then blow to get away from you. This can make taming somewhat frustrating, so your best option is to use a snow owl to force them to STAY PUT so you can tranq them. This also deflates the gasbag making it easier. Once you’ve got it knocked out go ahead and stuff some superior egg kibble in it and you’re good to go! If you don’t have that on hand then mejo berries are are a fine alternative.

So now you’ve finally done it, you’ve got a gasbag! Now what? Start by NOT crafting a salad, because you don’t need one to ride your new friend, unless you want to take a friend with you because there is an optional salad a friend can ride! The gas bag has several things it can do, a standard little bite, useless, it’s suck and blow, which can be used for crowd control to get hostiles away, and this succ can also be used to blow you away and sort of fly. I say sort of because you can control it in the air, but it’s hard to steer, you’ll need to be careful and manage your inflation. If you run out of succ while in mid air you’ll fall and you’ll die. Now there’s a little more to this than you might think at first glance, as I said you can steer, but you can also hold space or the W key to gain elevation or to break your fall. You can also use the C key exhaust all of your air and just fall. If you need to get down from a high ledge then there is a way to do it, without risking taking fall damage. Simply succ up and walk off the side of a cliff and you’ll gently make your way down. Oh one more thing I found while recording this, if you hold right mouse button while walking you can keep pressing space to just do a small little bunny hop to move around super fast, actually making the gasbag more nimble than one would have initially thought.

Here’s a little secret, the gasbag is also excellent on the water! The devs hinted that many of the new creatures were made with water in mind, and yes, several of the new creatures are quite good in the water. You can succ while in the water which will make you float, taking no oxygen and just being an overall more pleasant experience as opposed to having to hold the spacebar. You can then blow to move across the water extremely rapidly. Just be careful because you will run out of stamina eventually then drown. But if you dismount your puffed up gasbag on the water it will not lose nor gain stamina, just stays sitting there. You can fill it with supplies and leave it to float to come back to.

Other than that, the gasbag is excellent for carrying stuff. That’s kind of the entire point of the thing. Gasbags have excellent weight capacity and stamina making them great for doing what they’re made to do… carry stuff. These puffle worms are gonna be amazing as farming companions. Ditch that weight argy because this is the new META!

So let’s talk about PVP capabilities… there are none, it can’t even sprint- next!

Next up how should you build this little maggot?! Basically there’s really only one good way to do this, go ahead and pump lots of levels into weight, and oxygen with some extra points thrown into health. Interestingly enough oxygen actually increases the amount of succ you can hold. That means the higher this stat, the longer you can fly… extremely useful! I would suggest putting some levels into stamina, but it’s not necessarily required, as you’re not really going to be in any situations that require a lot of stamina. You should have time to regen stamina while you’re farming or just trying to get from point A to B. Of course I’m not saying don’t, it’s worth it. Now that’s the basic build, you might want to tweak how you do things slightly based on what I’m about to say.
