"Jurassic Park," a 1993 video game developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, is a tie-in to the 1993 blockbuster film of the same name. The game also incorporates elements from Michael Crichton's 1990 novel, "Jurassic Park," which served as the source material for the movie.

The gameplay of "Jurassic Park" is characterized by standard side-scrolling action, infused with platform gaming components. Players aim to reach the end of each level by utilizing items strategically placed in fixed locations. An intriguing feature of the game is the option to control two distinct characters who function independently: paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant and a Velociraptor. Players can switch between these characters using the "Player" option in the game's main menu. The game provides three difficulty levels: "Medium" as the default, "Hard" for increased enemy challenge, and "Easy" for a more forgiving experience.

Each player is granted three lives, restarting at the beginning of a level upon losing one. A game over resets the game but offers passwords between levels, facilitating continuation from specific points. Passwords are accessible from the game's main menu.

Playing as Grant, the objective is to navigate seven areas of Isla Nublar and reach the Visitors Center for a helicopter escape. Grant contends with free-roaming dinosaurs and wields various weapons like a tranquillizer gun, stun gun, flash grenades, gas grenades, and a rocket launcher. Ammunition refills are scattered throughout the island, along with first-aid kits for recovery.

The Velociraptor character possesses superior jumping and running abilities but can only attack at close range with its teeth and claws. The Raptor's goal is to elude or eliminate Jurassic Park security guards and corner Grant at the Visitors Center. The Raptor plays through five levels, facing stray dinosaurs along the way. The enemy guards carry grenades and missiles but are manageable for the Raptor. However, their presence and aggression intensify in the final level. The Raptor's health item is "meat," and it can also consume a "compy" to replenish health.
