World in Conflict is a real-time strategy / tactics game released initially in 2007 for Windows. The expansion pack, Soviet Assault, was released in 2009, and packaged under the title World in Conflict: Complete Edition. The game is set in an alternate timeline where the Cold War actually turns hot and the world is dragged into another world war.

I say the story-telling in the Complete Edition is top-notch. You get to see how the war progresses from the perspectives of the belligerent factions -- Western Allies (USA & NATO) and the Soviets. Characters are well-developed that I actually cared for them throughout the campaign. Besides the story, I am really delighted to see the in-game graphics and combat effects still hold up very well even to this day without costing a bomb to run at high graphic settings. Music is also adequate at the right times.

Other than the occasional terrible path-finding, this game is awesome and timeless in my book. A shame that this title did not get any sequel, but at least it ended in high regards instead of getting butchered by some greedy developer / publisher. *cough*

I am replaying it for the nostalgia factor and hopefully share the same feeling to viewers. Difficulty is set to the highest at Very Hard for added challenge because the AI tactics is just terrible.
