Why do I say EIGHTH rank when I appear TENTH in the leaderboard (from 2:16)?
Because of cheaters! Ignoring the 2 cheats at the top, this score puts me in EIGHTH rank.
Look at the difference in points between the cheaters and the others!
They used to cheat using an addon that re-enabled Slew mode... and then a bug caused the smoothness to appear as 0 feet per minute when touching down in Slew mode, which is not possible, because 0 feet per minute DOWN is not moving down, it is staying parallel above the runway! This bug gave a maximum of 200 points for Smoothness, and that is why the cheated scores are multiple of 200!
All they had to do is position the aircraft on top of the blue target in slew mode, then lower the aircraft!
This sad state of affair had been going on for more than two years!
In the newer challenges, no such scores appear, so it seems that, at long last, cheating is no longer possible.
This Flight Simulator challenge is harder than in real life because trees are much higher than in real life. Touching trees causes a crash! So, we MUST fly high enough to avoid trees, then dive, which causes the speed to increase, and the last part of the flight is not stabilised, so we must make many adjustments in just a few seconds. This is nightmarishly hard.
