Eine Stunde Gameplay von "Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit", einem Rennspiel entwickelt und veröffentlicht von Electronic Arts im Jahre 1998 für die originale Playstation so wie Windows PC, hier gezeigt in der Playstation-Version.

Im Spiel hat man die Auswahl zwischen verschiedenen High Performance Sportfahrzeugen mit welchen man in diversen Rennen und Rennveranstaltungen mit oder ohne die Polizeit im Nacken teilnehmen kann, wobei man bei Erfolg neue Kurse und Fahrzeuge freischaltet.

Auch wenn es mit "Need For Speed" so wie "Need For Speed II" bereits zwei hervorragende Vorgänger gab, so war es doch dieser dritte Teil, welcher die Serie auf den Erfolgskurs setzte, welcher bis heute anhält und die Marke "Need For Speed" zu einer der weltweit bekanntesten Rennspiel-Marken machte.
Was auch der Grund dafür sein dürfte, dass die Serie später noch einige weitere Einträge mit dem Untertitel "Hot Pursuit" erhalten sollte.

In the game the player can choose between a selection of high performance sports cars with which the player can partake in various races and racing events with or without the involvement of the police chasing the player, by which when completed successfully new tracks and cars are unlocked.

Despite the fact that with "Need For Speed" and "Need For Speed II" there have been two already pretty good predecessors, it was the third installment that set the "Need For Speed"-franchise on the course to success which velocity it maintained to keep up unto the modern era to this very day and made it one of the most renown video game racing franchises.
Which also might be the reason why even some later releases again got to carry the "Hot Pursuit" subtitle.
