Welcome back everybody! To Let's play Oxygen Not Included Gameplay, part 6. Mistakes have been made! The algae terraria turn out not the best way to filter out the oxygen. Algae terraria need water and of course algae and the Algae Deoxydizer. Problem is The Algae Deoxydizer has a poor algae to Oxygen conversion ratio, and will quickly burn through your stock. When you are low on algae, turn the Algae Deoxydizer off in order to let a more Algae-efficient method to take over oxygen production is a good idea and we don’t have any! Without the algae our base is going to fail. So we need to solve that problem. We have mined out all the algae around the base we can find more but we will need to mine deeper, there is another option we can use and that is. The next biome to our main base is the toxic biome full of slime that we can turn in to algae we just need Bio Distiller. With it we can build ourselves an algae factory! As the Bio Distiller make algae however, Bio Distillers are quite slow, so you may need more than one if you have large quantities of Slime available. Because they emit Contaminated Oxygen, heat up and are ugly, they are best placed far away from living quarters or in a sealed room. Still, because they are able to create two of the most important resources in the game(Algae and Water if you use Water Purifier), they are a good option in the middle of the game once you start exploring the toxic Biome. Solution to the slow work is just to build more Bio Distillers but we need to seal this place of so it won’t pollute too much our colony. Now we need to worry about slime. From one side we can mine everything but then it will make low amount of pressure that is even more deadly for our colonist in Oxygen Not Included. This is where nature of the asteroid comes in handy! Pufers are the wild animal we can find in the asteroid they are harmless but are quite unique as they will suck in all the contaminated oxygen and make slime piles. Not huge amounts but in theory unlimited amounts of slime we can use for our algae factory! Its a good idea to put the factory next to the cave with the purfer so we can easily throw contaminated air in to this little cave. That later on he will transfer in to more useful for us slime. We also need to worry about food even more as it turns out the farms are not doing enough food for our colony! So we need to make sure we will build more plant stations around but then again remember the mealwood dislikes pressure so too much pressure will kill the plants and won’t give us any food in return. Another problem is the algae factory will eat a lot of power from the power sources we have so if we don’t want to kill our colonist by making them run all day, we need better source of power for the colony. Coal is the next step in power sources in Oxygen Not Included we can use tho making one is very risky as it will make a lot of unbreathable air that we for now can’t do anything with so maybe building one in a far of sealed room may be very needed so we won’t kill of our of our colonists. For new air production we will also from now on use The Electrolyzer but that on the other hand makes different problems!
