From a random idea I had, I ended up finding a new little sequence break which allows you to get the 10-Lum cage in Tomb of the Ancients without killing the pirate.

To simply put it, you're taking advantage of this particular Henchman's AI to break the door, break the cage and get the 10 Lums from it. Although I cut it close here, if you hit the pirate sooner than I did, you should be able to get more leeway on this
