I did not expect to be able to actually beat this game today. I especially did not expect to be able to beat it with 5 (sadly not 6) Chaos Emeralds. I figure this would be one I had to make a few attempts at to actually make it all the way through. Three. It took three attempts. Starting from scratch each time, and while I did make some saves for my own personal use, I did not use them to beat the game.

That said, yea, this is a solid platformer. There's a reason why Sonic is still around today, when so many other mascots failed. Even with so many lesser games in the Sonic series, when it was good, it was really good. Good enough that he is a beloved icon of gaming. And this is where it all started. I do wish we had the remake on PC, with the 1080p, 60 frames a second, save games etc. But this original version is still a lot of fun.
