You ever think of something perfect to say at just the right moment, but as you're just about to say it you forget it instantly?
And then you either just never remember it, or worse, you do remember it, just at a much later time when it becomes too irrelevant to the current topic/situation.
Basically an extreme mixture of frustration, annoyance and despair.
If you've ever felt that then you might have a pretty good idea of what it's like to play as the MC of Doki Doki Literature Club-

Natsuki is honestly somehow the most normal-ish person in the club.
She's not always the nicest but like other than that she's not a bad person.

Monika hasn't really done anything aggressive or mean... which is honestly a red flag already.
I'm not saying that everyone should be a bully, trust me the MC is bully enough, but like, a range of emotions is important to making a character a human or at the very least human-like.
Like, yea Natsuki isn't the nicest, but she isn't putting up any facades.
What you see is what you get and that's easy to understand.
Monika is nothing but nice and helpful, never a cut and always a bandage... and that's why I don't trust her.
There's only 2 reasons for why she's like that, either she's actually a super crazy psycho creeper, or she's a robot.
Either way, I just don't feel too safe in her presence.
And the directly front facing sprites and her subtle fourth-wall breaks don't help her case.

Yuri's the most perplexing one of the bunch, almost because she's between Natsuki and Monika.
Like, she isn't as creepy as Monika, but she also isn't as honest as Natsuki.
Monika is the equivalent of a walking red flag, setting off Weegee-Brand danger alarms.
Yuri doesn't fill me with as much discomfort regarding her character, but she's definitely hiding something.
What exactly that is is most likely something I don't actually wanna know about, but it's important that you know that if there actually is something fishy going on with her... I called it-

Sayori just makes me feel bad.
She certainly has it the worst as far as treatment goes.
She's kinda like Yuri but in a different way.
I just kinda know that there's something more to her character, something important that we aren't seeing.
With Yuri it's just something she isn't telling us, but with Sayori, it almost feels like there's something she wants to say but can't.

And honestly, I'm not even gonna try to defend or make up some character profile for the MC.
He isn't some deep character, he's not hiding anything, nor can he seeing as we can read his thoughts.
He's just kinda a creepy bully.
And that makes me weep.
