Touchstone Pictures’ “Gnomeo and Juliet” - 2011 DVD Review
This is a review of my grandparents’ copy of the 2011 DVD of Touchstone Pictures’ “Gnomeo and Juliet.” This film was directed by the late Kelly Asbury, who also directed Dreamworks Animation’s “Shrek 2.” The film stars James McAvoy, Emily Blunt and Michael Caine, along with Maggie Smith, Matt Lucas and Jason Statham as the film’s villain, “Thibault,” an antagonistic red gnome. The film takes place at a little suburban household in Stratford Upon Avon, England. In this story, two neighbors have two large sets of garden gnomes. The blue gnomes belong to Mrs. Montague, while the red gnomes belong to Mr. Capulet. One night, while trying to obtain a rare flower called a “Cupid’s Arrow Orchid,” the two gnomes meet each other, and then when their disguises fall off, they are absolutely terrified. With the help of a flamingo named “Featherstone,” the two garden gnomes take on their own challenges. Thibault, the film’s main villain, slices Gnomeo’s sidekicks hat off and causes them to have a fight. After Thibault crashes down the red gnomes charge after him. After Gnomeo is presumed to be dead after being run over by a truck, Gnomeo actually inadvertently stumbles into a park and talks to a statue of Williams Shakespeare and realizes Juliet is in danger. Can Gnomeo save the day, and will Juliet find her permanent happiness - find out in Gnomeo and Juliet. I hope you enjoy the show. 🌹🌸💐🌺🌷🌻🥀🌼🦩🗿🗽
