- Analysis:
Both Attack and Defense are maxed through partner set-up. Belt of Vitality is just there to help minimize Health sustaining.
By default, his Air R1 has one of the strongest aerial damage output in the game. He is capable of nuking any officer in any Free Mode (DLC) with OHKO or 2HKO clean with 'a standard' looking set-up (no gold orbs).
This only applies to archer stage, but the trick to minimizing damage is to jump at a high point. This will redirect all the archers aim to be up higher, allowing Katsuie Shibata to land more safely. Jumping to low and the archers will not shoot high enough at a point where if he lands, it will still shoot his head.
In standard gameplay, he will get interrupted by combat peons when he lands because of the blind spot below him. Pretty much inevitable, but not fatal.
C1-1-1 is his most viable sustaining tool because it will stun and lock enemies, but won't kill them until the last hit elemental, granting him the maximum absorption possible. If C1-1-1 recovery feels unsafe, use R1 to cancel the animation and get out. C4-4 is a 'more' mobile sustaining tool, but he has pitiful reach prior to the shockwave, so be careful.

• C-1-1-1 has great absorption, but the absorption is on the last hit, therefore he is very susceptible to damage prior then; heal early
• Air R1 recovery is vulnerable to combat peons
• Snaking is required to take minimum damage
