Golden Axe still holds a place in the hearts and minds of many; a classic scrolling beat-’em-up (with axes) that those of us of a certain age all seemed to play to death in the early 90s. A few sequels followed, but there hasn’t been anything new for Golden Axe since 2008.

Why is that? What happened? And will the franchise make a comeback? I’ve no idea. But let’s have a look at the Golden Axe series anyway.
