"64th Street: A Detective Story" is a side-scrolling beat 'em up arcade game released in 1991 by Jaleco. Set in a gritty urban landscape reminiscent of 1930s New York City, the game follows the adventures of Rick and Allen, two private detectives. When a rich man's daughter goes missing, Rick's great deductive skills lead them on a wild journey to clean up crime, one brawl at a time.

Players take control of either Rick or Allen as they fight their way through the dangerous streets filled with thugs, gangsters, and other criminals. As Rick and Allen navigate through the game's seedy urban landscape, players are treated to a visual treats of faded backdrops, rundown slums, and filthy subways. The characters themselves are pitted against a colorful array of adversaries, ranging from brawny gangsters to 80s hair band rejects.

Throughout the game, players must punch, kick, and use various weapons to defeat enemies, including knives, bottles, and baseball bats. While Rick and Allen may not boast an extensive repertoire of fighting moves, their hard-hitting punches and kicks get the job done. Interactive environments allows players to hurl enemies against backdrop elements like smashed window panes and crumbled building archways. Objects like barrels and crates that can be picked up and thrown at enemies. The bosses includes a pink-haired punk with a megaton hammer and a spinning pirate captain.

"64th Street: A Detective Story" doesn't have much depth or variety, but it's an old school beat 'em up game done really well. With its stylish pixel art graphics and intense action-packed gameplay, "64th Street: A Detective Story" offers an enjoyable experience that captures the essence of classic arcade beat 'em ups.
