Next stop on the march to bring down Mortimer...heading to Holtmeier to save Jakka's family. Seems like a pretty dumb thing to do, given what everyone's trying to fight for, but maybe everyone not named Darius got a seventh sense something's about to go down at Holtmeier.

Upon arriving at Holtmeier, Jakka meets up with Brandon and wants to go over to his home to check in on his family. That ends very quickly when he finds the one assigned to protect them dead, a note from Aubrey stating they have his mom & sis, and every house from Andaron outside the city gates. Lovely!

Long story short, Jakka has two choices...surrender or be front and center to a second siege of Holtmeier. If you want to see a quick game over, opt to surrender. Like it or not, Jakka's army is going to have to survive an all out assault.

First thing's first...this may very well be the last chapter you'll have a good chance to get some big level ups for anyone you want to bring to the final chapter.

Also, make sure to have at least 50k gold on hand before starting. If you bring Colter, you'll only need 30k.

For now though, you have a VERY difficult chapter ahead of you, one of the hardest in the game honestly. You're going to have to divide your forces out very effectively to handle an assault from five different angles at the start.

Thankfully, for the bottom three gates, they're all mounted physical axe users so your physically bulky characters should be stationed there.

As for the two gates in the northwest & northeast...the northeast has an all armored unit squad so if you have some kind of anti-armor weapon on hand, you can deal with them relatively easily. Not so for the northwest squad. Thankfully I have some of my heavy hitters like Crixus, Darius, and Caroline going that way. Caroline needs to make a small detour first though.

If Caroline or Victoria met the weird sage in chapter 24 for part 2 of the hidden regalia sidequest, they can finally get said regalia here. Caroline needs to visit the shop in the northwest while Victoria needs to go to the armory. Doing so grants the hidden regalia Claymore and the Lucky Seven skill.

Lucky Seven grants 20 hit & avoid for the first 7 turns of a chapter. If that isn't enough avoid, how about Claymore making either girl insanely evasive? On top of the strong offensive stats, it grants +10 to spd & luck. Really light too.

Oh yes, Claymore also grants Duelist's Blow while wielded. STILL not enough avoid for you? Here's +30 more avoid if the wielder initiates combat!

As for the rest of the map...things get real nasty on turn 2 when Rogues start popping out of forts on the edges of the map. They only have one task...to reach a wall and blow it up. Lovely, isn't it?

Well, lunatic wants you to have even more to worry about with the secret objective. None of the walls are allowed to be destroyed if you want to satisfy it. That can be an extremely hard task when you're stressed just dealing with everything else.

Me though? I have a secret plan and it involves Angelus & Zahri. They get their A rank support in this chapter which means Angelus can do his extra turn granting once more. Yes, he can give another turn to Zahri and vice versa if you so desire which is how I'm going to deal with most of the Rogue reinforcements.

Helga also helps out immensely with the Rogue reinforcements as sometimes there's two to deal with. Angelus can't easily deal with that. Helga also helps keep Brandon safe as his death equals a game over. If you're good at keeping back the enemy forces, all he has to worry about is a trio of Generals and enemy ballista boats a few turns in. If Helga can knock out the boats, Brandon can hold up against the Generals for long enough for you to get someone over there.

On turn 6 is where that gold comes into play. Aubrey enters the battlefield and is invisible. Like Madeline did with Shom last chapter, she'll beeline it for Jakka to attack him. Where she appears is completely random too.

Thankfully, there are two ways to find out where she is. You can go into any enemy's status sheet, then flip through them until you find Aubrey and back out. The cursor will go to where she is.

Alternatively, you can select Jakka or Colter on the map and look for a speech bubble over an empty tile.

Either way, talking to her reveals she is quite willing to change sides for the right price. If Jakka talks to her, her asking price is 50k. If Colter talks to her though, the price is 30k. Paying her not only gets rid of any future reinforcements from the guild, she'll join Jakka's army. I'll talk about her next time.
