I Do NOT claim ownership of the game, nor do I claim to have worked on the game. I have either purchased the game for my own entertainment and/or received the game as a gift for me to play with. The video provided is from my own playing of the game on a system designed to play the game. The footage is mine and it serves to show how the game plays, the graphics, and features for the intent of review to help with the decision of if others want to play the game.

Greetings fellow test subjects. Test Subject 1337 here for Aperture gaming. They make it, we test it, you play it. Today I am reviewing American Hero for the Nintendo Switch.

While The Saboteur my take the prize for oldest game I have currently reviewed, this one should win the award for longest in development. It was started back in the 1990's, canceled, then came back in 2021...

In regards to that, I have to give a warning. The people who worked on the revival of this game wanted to keep it as true as possible to the source material. The game at points depicts characters acting in ways that are not suitable. Be it doing certain actions, or how they treat others. But they say this game is made to be as a sort of time capsule showing of the games of that era. The creators of this game, along with Channel PirateCaptianJeff and Aperture Gaming do not support or condone the actions / discriminations depicted from this game.

This is the first FMV (Full Motion Video) game I have reviewed, but it kind of reminded me of Mad Dog McCree. The game is like the video game equivalent of a choose-your-own-adventure book. I think this was going to be a movie or part of a series, but then it was stopped before its revival 25 years later. And like the new Robocop game, the main actor form this project came back to do some audio parts. I appreciate that.

Aside from a few tech issues, most stemming from the old footage, and that the original footage got some parts ruined, the game has a flaw of if you mess up, you have to go back to your last checkpoint, and that may make things run long.

We give this game a 8.5 out of 10.
