It took me a lot longer and involved a lot more technical mischief than I'd planned on, but I really should've been playing Guilty Gear Strive a lot more up to now... mostly because it's heckin' fun!

It's also helping me to focus my goal and just trying to get used to playing Faust against a variety of opponents that aren't computerized.

If all I wanted was some easy wins, I'd go with Potemkin, obviously... but then what would I really be learning?

Going forth, I'll try to apply this whole rationale to the rest of the roster, naturally... although how I do so will vary, I'm sure. It'd be nice if there was a proper consistent randomizer that's not buried in menus and needs to be accessed each time I want a new random choice, and the lack of such in ArcSys games for awhile now has really discouraged me from playing many of them online...
