Leonardo is a weird unit in this series. He has some of the highest accuracy out of the rest of the units essentially just behind Sothe and Lyre. His main issue however, is his terrible 43 Spd. This makes him go second a majority of his fights and with his Low HP and Def, it makes him perfect food for any Brave weapon attacks. The upside to him you ask? I guess his amazing mastery skill that will always (you would think) win for him, Deadeye. I say this because another one of his major problems is his offense. His 47 Str is just downright awful for a physical unit and the only thing that somewhat saves him in that regard is the fact that he has access to the 25 effective Mt of the Double Bow. But even then, it doesn't solve all of his damage issues. You might be asking, "Oh, if he has such low Str he must have a really good magic stat to make up for it." Nope, his magic is just Ok which means that he can't rely on the Bright Bow or Daemon Cards to do significant damage when his physical bows don't do much. But I suppose I've talked enough about his issues, let's talk about his other upsides other than his Skl and his (almost) failproof mastery skill. Because of his high Skl and amazing mastery skill, he has an amazing chance to proc it each time which he really needs when he goes second a majority of the time (To be fair, you wouldn't notice with the amount of times he refused to proc it in other units' videos lol). His other upside, and probably the last one, is that he is a decent mage killer with his high-ish Res stat. The only problem that makes him just decent is that his HP is low enough that many of the mages can one-shot him with Flare. If he had just a little more HP, he could be even more effective against them. And even if they attack him from 1 range, because of his great accuracy, he rarely feels the -30 hit penalty when attacking with Double Bow from close-range.

The unit with the higher base speed will initiate first. (If unit has Shade or Stillness they will always choose who goes first). If both units have the same speed, the unit whose video it is will go first.

For weapons, the unit who is faster chooses the weapon they want the unit they are attacking gets to choose a weapon to counter them with. The unit who attacks first, goes through all the possible weapon combinations and picks whatever situation would give them the best chance at victory. After the initial turn, the only time a unit can change their weapon is on their turn.
