Classic Media’s “The Original Christmas Classics” - 2007 DVD Box Set Review
This is a review of the 2007 Keepsake Edition DVD Box Set of Classic Media’s “The Original Christmas Classics.” This set includes all seven Christmas specials made by Rankin Bass doing business as Videocraft International. There is even a bonus holiday CD with songs from artists like Otis Redding, Chicago, and the late, great Burl Ives. If you take the discs out of the case or box, whatever you want to call it, you’ll notice that there is artwork behind the discs of all of your favorite Christmas Classics. Disc 1 has “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Cricket on the Hearth,” while Disc 2 has “Frosty the Snowman” and its “sequel,” known as “Frosty Returns.” Finally, Disc 3 has “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “The Little Drummer Boy,” and finally “Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol,” a short that was not made by Rankin Bass but rather by MGM / United Artists Animation under license to Classic Media. Filled with fun, joy and happiness, these Christmas Classics are priceless films to cherish, not just at Christmas time, but year-round as well. I hope you enjoy the show.
