Freelancer (w/ Arwing Fighter mod) SP Playthrough 1 --- That Guy From Tyrian--- wait, no, nevermind
1That was another Trent altogether, sorry, albeit stuck in almost the same predicament as this one.
After being reminded of Freelancer, I decided to dig up some old, old mods I've downloaded from the Starport and Lancers Reactor back in the day and try them out again, in particular the Arwing Fighter mod created by Ryuujin (who also created the FF8 Ragnarok for the same game).
The Arwing mod was... peculiar. It has forward armaments surpassing even other Very Heavy Fighters in being able to mount 6 Class 10 guns and matches the Eagle in manueverability, but has the armor and Nanobot capacity of a Light Fighter, smaller powerplant and no turret, meaning that it died very easily once its shields were gone --- which happens easier than one thinks given that another quirk of this game is that nearby enemies will immediately and ALWAYS target YOU (and ONLY you) in dogfights even if they are being ganged up on and chewed up by five other allied ships at the time --- and cannot stand Radiated systems or stage hazards (i.e. mines) for long. Typical of Ryuujin mods, it also has an increased top and afterburner speed of 120/240 instead of the 80/200 that everyone else has (though unlike the Ragnarok mod it doesn't have extra Torpedo and Afterburner slots). So I decided to mod the Arwing's stats a bit further to give it more armor, power and Nanobots to match the Eagle, since I will be (mostly) sticking with the Arwing for the entire Single Player game.
Other mods used are the Battleship Encounters mod (because otherwise your Sunslayer Torpedo Launcher becomes very pointless post-game) and the SP Money mod (so that I can buy the Arwing at the very start by selling the Starflier, although modded further to leave Trent with just his starting 5500 credits instead of giving him a ludicrous wad of cash).
This is going to be fairly casual again for me, so some places may be slow while I look up things on the fly.
In this part: Trent gets a sexy sleek new hotness in place of his (Juni's?) old and busted Starflier, catches a smuggler and roasts dozens more, and starts f---ing around and finding things out in Liberty.
