ONE OF THE RAREST PIECES OF GAMING HISTORY! Jaguar Dental Scanner
55I've been very lucky and blessed to not only see some amazing video gaming history, but to get to know and become friends with those who own that history. I've seen hidden gems, prototypes, the Nintendo and Sony Super Nintendo Play Station, the Sega Pluto, and many more. One that I've encountered many times now, but I don't know that I've ever shared with you, is the Imagin HotRod IntraOral Scanner.
Per Imagin'd promotional materials:
Our new little HotRod is modular in design, equipped with an anti-fog Iens tip, HO-focusing optics, macro focus and the highest resolution CCD chip, just the short list of our standard equipment. Fact is, the HotRod from Imagin is destined to set the new dental standard for intraoral camera design, versatility -- and best of all- patient comfort.
The system used a white variation of the Jaguar mold, and it stored the images to Jaguar-shaped modules, what we knew as cartridges. Imagin developed a wall mount and handheld scanner to make it more user friendly and ideal for the dental offices.
The story behind this particular unit is very interesting, the type of thing you just love to hear. Jesse, the owner of this unit, ended up discovering the name of the company selling the Atari Jaguar shells, spoke to the owner of the company, and ended up getting hired by them! Down the road, one of the last Imagin HotRod owners contacted the company and asked what to do with his unit which he was going to dispose of. Jesse wound up returning to the office with 2 complete units, and the owner presented Jesse with 1 of the two. It's the type of story you love to hear, good things happening to good people.
