3 Games Decisively Better on Super Nintendo Than Sega Genesis
Over the years, people have been Team Sega Genesis and Team Super Nintendo. I've tended to be more of a Super NES fan, but there are games that I enjoy a lot more on The Sega Genesis. However, there are also games that I think are decisively better on the Super Nintendo than on the Sega Genesis. Let's take a look at just 3 titles I like better on Super NIntendo.
Number 3
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
File this one under "While I like it more I suck at both versions". The entire Ghouls 'n Ghosts & Ghosts 'N Goblins series is hard as nails, perhaps too hard, but they are still great games. Both the SNES and Genesis versions look good, but I think the play control, graphics, and music are all better on the Super Nintendo than on the Sega Genesis. I've never beaten either, but I do think the SNES got the better version.
Number 2
Final Fight
This is one of my favorite arcade cabinets of all time, so much so that my Wife got me the Arcade 1UP cabinet several years ago for Christmas. I've played the arcade version a ton, and even beaten the Arcade 1UP version. When it comes to the home consoles, even though you don't get all of the characters in it, I think the Super NES version is the more accurate and better overall version of the game. I even think the SNES version is better than the Sega CD version, as that one looks grainy to me and doesn't play as well, even with the CD-quality audio.
Number 1
NBA Jam (any version)
While this isn't my number 1 overall game I prefer on the SNES than the Genesis, it's the top out of these 3. I spent a ton of time in my teens playing the arcade version of NBA Jam, and to me, the SNES version just feels more accurate to the arcade version than the Genesis version. I also think the SNES controller works much better for this than the Genesis controller too. When it came out, my then-girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend (follow that logic, I dare you!) had the Genesis version, and it just felt so bad compared to the SNES version.
What about you? What games were available on both that you preferred the SNES version?
