12So! Now that I've put up that boss battle in Sonic Mania, I think it's logical that we get into some videos of an actual Puyo Puyo game, shan't we? If you've just tuned in, Sonic Mania viewers, this is Puyo Puyo Tetris, a falling blocks puzzle game released for various 8th- and 9th-generation systems (no PC release to my knowledge), in which you can play Puyo, Tetris, or even both at the same time. Most of the matches here you'll see me using Puyo though, namely to show you what kind of people I'm often up against and why I can smoke Dr. Eggman in Chemical Plant Zone Act 2 every time.
Match #1: Versus

Well, I got an explanation about why people like to pick Puyo vs. Puyo and Tetris vs. Tetris. Now, I wonder: Why do some people like to pick the same character as whomever you choose? (I have the game pick a character for me, so it's irrelevant to me, but I do see it as an odd behavior a number of Puyo Puyo Tetris players have developed.) As for this match, well, I got the awful Humanoids scheme, and for the first round, I got the one with the light green and the dark green colors. If you're wondering why the green ones aren't matching up, it's because there are two slightly different shades of green. For the second, I got the dreaded Puyo Drought, and it slowed me down enough for my opponent to quickly overtake me.

There were a lot of Big Bang matches that session, and here's the first one I'll show. This one kind of ended in a hurry. Is Big Bang a popular mode? I know Fusion isn't. But it was, oddly, the second most popular mode now.

Something I wanted to point out: I had a few requests way back when, and I don't even remember how old they are. The important part is that I FINALLY remembered them, and the first one is Ringo using her alternate voice clips, so here it is. I decided to be extra-aggressive in this matchas I knew I couldn't beat a Tetris player with Puyo under normal circumstances. Despite putting up one of my best scores in Party under Puyo, it just wasn't enough. I might have actually won had the match gone on for 10 seconds longer though.

The other request I had was to use Feli using her alternate voice clips. Any other requests you guys might want? Hopefully I don't forget for several months like last time. Also, in this match, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do Big Bang that fast before. How do you compete with that? (Well, I CAN play that fast, but I'd be constantly making mistakes.)

Hey, the modes in this video's matches are palindromic. In any case, why not end this video where I use Dark Prince? After all, the music in Sonic Mania's Mean Bean Machine's boss fight is a remix of Dark Prince's theme from the original Puyo Puyo puzzle game. I don't think the theme itself is in Puyo Puyo Tetris though...is it?
