Sonic Movie Character Development - Shadow Day 015
5Today I was finally able to fully completed UV unwrapping on all remaining additional parts added to this CC4 Shadow avatar, then I was also able to wrap up reimporting and re associating or directly skin weighting these assets back onto the CC4 avatar. Skin weights will get fixed later in Maya and expressions are still not done but all todays work was leading up to preparing this thing for re texturing in substance first so we can at least have a better representation of Shadows face colors and forms to better refine the expressions more down the road. Next session will hopefully be finally getting his A posed model safely into Substance to being the retexture work.
If you are a CC4 user you may wanna follow this whole process just to keep up with some success stories, missteps and backtracks. There will be plenty of mistakes made I assure you, but the point is taking advantage of these pre-rigged humanoids, putting your own new bones and appendages on them and still retaining CC4s built in facial rigging if you are like me, a character modeler/texturer with no animation chops whatsoever. Come along for the journey, this mess is finna be wild!
