Starcraft 2 LotV Campaign - Temple of Unification Brutal - No unit upgrades, no spear of adun
This is part of a playthrough of the Starcraft2 Legacy of the void campaign without using the spear of adun, unit upgrades such as Dragoons, on the Brutal difficulty along with completing all bonus objectives for an extra challenge.
This is without using the Master's Archive, because it won't allow me to unpick my upgraded units.
I thought since there is no time limit that the mission would be easy... but it actually took me some thinking and a few tries to get it right, because I actually ran out of resources. As you can see my expansion runs out of minerals by the end.
You want to expand ASAP, full focus on economy, there is no downside to this.
Then you want to get dark templars because the protoss does not have detection. DTs can defend from most of the protoss units and weaken locks before you engage them with your army. You'll want to decimate the protoss armies with DTs as much as you can to reduce the damage you take.
The terran however is very well equipped against stalkers as he uses reapers, ghosts, siegetanks banshees wraiths and siegetanks. I tried going all-out stalker but it just straight did not work out. That's where I decided to try pheonixes, the new unit from the mission. Phoenixes make quick work of the flying units which are a huge source of damage, lifts tanks, and a lot of other units which reduces the damage your army takes. This makes you have to focus more on zealots because of lack of gas however... which isn't really bad either because charge zealots are really good against terran infantry and tanks, and are much more tanky than stalkers due to all the bonus vs armored units that are used by the terran.
To engage the titanic warp prism, you have to clear at least 2 locks to give you time. When the enemy attacks you, it's always both the terran and the protoss at once, but if you have locks under your control, they will go take a lock instead, so this buys you time instead of having to back to your base... they eventually leave the lock when it's reinforced and they attack your base however.
So there you go, so far the challenge is quite fun and more challenging than I would've thought. I've done the same for WoL and HotS and this campaign is definitely harder... although not more than All-in Air with no upgrades... I'm looking forward to salvation for that!
I will not upload the next mission with Artanis and Kerrigan since the lack of upgrades does not affect this mission.
