This is my play through of Starcraft Remastered Brood War with some random commentary. Sometimes you won't even notice I'm there.

Terran Mission 5a - Emperor's Fall [Ground Zero]

This mission is one of the branching outcomes depending on whether the player chooses to take out the physics labs or the nuclear silos in mission 4.

Having neutralized the physics labs, the UED fleet makes their final confrontation with Mengsk's Dominion forces. Backed a large arsenal of nuclear warheads, the Dominion forces possesses destructive capabilities that seemed more than capable of driving back the Captain who has led the UED fleet through continued victories.

Though the Dominion has an initial advantage that basically wipes out the entire base of the UED Captain, the Captain's forces regain their footing quickly with minimal reinforcements. With enough time and resources the Captain eventually build up the forces necessary to take down the Dominion's defenses and destroy Mengsk's command center.

With the destruction of his command center, Mengsk comes out into the open aboard his battlecruiser to parley. Deciding him a worthy opponent worthy of praise, Dugalle greets the "Emperor" personally. The conversation is brief and Mengsk is defiant to the end. With unmatched determination and craftiness, Mengsk bided his time to overthrow the Confederacy and claims he would do the same with the UED.

Admiral Dugalle chuckles at the thought as Mengsk believed he'd be allowed to live. The UED intends to show no mercy to the man who had the audacity to declare himself Emperor and planned to executed summarily after taking him into custody. With certain death awaiting him, the end of Mengsk seems to be at hand until Jim Raynor arrives on the scene unexpected.

Jim Raynor wants Mengsk dead more than anyone it could be argued, but for whatever reason, Raynor and a small Protoss fleet that accompanied him came to rescue Mengsk instead of allowing him to be captured by the UED. Confused by the unexpected turn of events, Mengsk demands an explanation but is shut down as there was no time for such talks. Raynor prepped them all for a warp recall that would take them far away.

Infuriated by the sudden loss of his prey, Dugalle hurriedly commands his fleet to track where Raynor and Mengsk had fled.
