Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos (Hard) - Orc Campaign - Chapter 04: The Spirits of Ashenvale
3We're joining Grom as he begins to collect the Lumber required for a new Horde base on Kalimdor, unbeknownst to him there's Night Elves in this land, who will not be pleased with the desecration of their land.
The goal is to harvest 15,000 Lumber, but thankfully it won't be just through Peons that you reach this number.
You'll want to nab the Gold Mine to the N and defend it with a few Towers to fend off Archers and Hippo Riders. Close in the workers here if you want, to prevent melee unit access.
Slightly to the SW you'll find a small Night Elf camp, and destroying the Tree of Life will nab you 3,000 Lumber. It's also worth having Pillage so you can gain extra resources whilst attacking.
Straight to the E of the Gold Mine you'll be tasked with dealing with some Furbolgs for a reward. NE of the Gold Mine you'll find another small camp with another Tree of Life for 3,000 Lumber.
W of the first destroyed Tree of Life is a small Troll gathering that you can kill to free up the next Gold Mine, and this serves as an ideal location to start producing some Catapults. Defend it similarly to the other Gold Mine, but you'll notice that the attacks from the Night Elves are a bit heavier now. Their Catapult equivalent is perhaps the weakest, but don't leave them unchecked - they'll still take out Towers quickly. Of the two bases you'll most likely need to take one out, and the Dark Blue in the SW seems better suited. Fewer Dryads and mainly Archers/Huntresses for units as well as the location helps a lot.
An initial attack by me with no Catapults failed, but gave me good info on their unit comp. Grom did survive though, so I pulled him out with some new Headhunters to take the Furbolgs out. The Two Goblin Shredders will speed up chopping quite a lot, and it's worth training a couple more if you don't want to take either base out.
You can force fire on the trees to the W of your SW base to clear a way into their base. A well timed Bladestorm can deal with the bulk of their low HP units and then you can mop up and use the Catapults to take out the last Tree of Lie you should need to take down to complete the level.
