Hello again.

More of Chimquadron.

I'm continuing Jared's story now.

Jared's story
====
(Takes place during March 1st, 2039)
Tina wasn't joking about joining: what the Viewer did stroke her personal interests directly with a deadly spin. The idea was to continue searching for people who could be of use to the team.

Jared had an idea or two about who could fit the role, based on how they acted during Liberation war. But a serious problem appeared - knowing the character didn't mean knowing where they are at any point of time.

It almost looked like a deadend - right until Tina pulled some papers out of her field bag. Jared did check some of them - and one of papers did tell about a new star in post-ADVENT cybersport tournament. Description had told who that was. But where...

Tina pointed her finger at seemingly unnoticeable interview piece with Raetezer II. It did confuse Jared (and made Tina smirk with disdain), so Tina said it plain and simple - another city, at local hypercomms network club.
"How did she manage to get it like that?",- Jared thought, only to be interrupted by Tina.
"Every journalist, if they give a hell about their career, should know how to seek their interest - and I guarantee I'm damn good at that", - with absolute certainty and some pride the woman said.

Jared called Bradford to ask about transportation, only to find out he's been heavily bogged down by latest wave of recruits (and one rather highly attractive and somewhat competent at shooting, yet diffucult-to-deal-with redhead - none other than Maya Wagnerson, about whom John didn't mention to Jared)

That meant only one thing - using whatever ADVENT was using for interregional commercial tourism during its prime, a Ryzona UFO class.

Meeting tomorrow along with his two students in regional spaceport, Jared wondered if he's forgetting something important.
"Without me, Hill and kids, you wouldn't get out without XCOM",- a familiar voice marked the appearance of Tina.

Taking just a glance, Jared thought for a bit that he's staring at a second sun that suddenly appeared on this sinful earth. But nope, it simply was Tina, in her casual clothes.
Radiant yellow dress with similarly-colored master-grade reinforced crystal shoes resonated nicely with natural beauty of Tina, further enhanced by highly expensive and correctly applied cosmetics. Her hair, now being yet again tied into Tina's trademark twintails (now significantly longer than in 2035 though), sported the same two yellow bows Jared noticed several days before. Newer glasses only further intensified an almost absolute visual perfection possible in humanity without biotechnology.

Jared, despite disliking Tina quite a bit, couldn't help but to feel a bit turned on. His boy protege wouldn't disagree either, as well as most men at spaceport according to their gazes.

"That's right, Hill, that's how you should look at premium package",- Tina smiled slyly with quite a heavy ego towards Jared, snapping him back to reality.

Wielding the permissions Tina got them, the team boarded a Ryzona that was ready to depart.
"I need to finish my business contract first, so you're getting to this chick solo, Hill". "Ok, thanks... but where do we need to go?".

Tina stopped suddenly. She was used to luxury gravcab rides thanks to her hefty paycheck from being a scandalous hotspot correspondent, but she never used a Ryzona before. "So... you're going to second-class, yeah... where is it, hmm...".

Eventually, team found the room. When Jared entered, he saw quite a clean space with lots of pods stationed inside. The room itself looked fancy, with obviously successful synergy of both ADVENT and legacy human cultures.

Jared turned to say thanks to Tina, but couldn't proceed. Tina was looking straight at the pods. Visibly clutching her right fist. Keeping her left fist on her neck. Breathing heavily. And yet without a sound, just some... fear? What could be that scary about pods?

Jared checked how the pods looked - and he suddenly remembered something. Pods similar to Ryzona ones were found - at the Blacksite.

And Jared remembered when Tina discovered that her youngest sister was dissolved at one of then-hidden Blacksites.
It was a really unpleasant moment.

"...they won't block my escape... they won't kill me like you...",- with near-silenced words Tina unintentionally revealed both her fear for dying like her late sister and her own childhood claustrophobia.

"I-i-i hope you three handle... this. I'm going to luxury class... s-s-see you later...". And with these words Tina left the room.

The pods in question were comfy. They were intended to relax their passengers in subconscious neural show, not to kill. But Jared could understand what Tina has felt right now.

"Finally, SOME trait of yours, Tina",- Jared said with satisfaction, before pods covered the trio and gave them some well-needed rest for the time being.
