007: The World is Not Enough (PS-X) Playthrough

While Black Ops’ second go-round is better than the first, that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement. If anything, being better than Tomorrow Never Dies was the bare minimum expected. That said, the developers made some good choices like switching from third- to first-person and there aren’t as many bugs trying to break the game and the gamer. However, the game still has a slapdash feel to it. Levels are over about as soon as they begin. The choices made on what to emphasize such as the casino and the control room where M is kidnapped feel like padding. It’s a shame because this game is 11 levels and the stretch marks are already showing. Switching weapons and items isn’t any easier this time around and it can lead to a lot of frustration. Moreover, Black Ops’ version had to compete with the N64 version, which was developed by Eurocom. The differences between the two games are night and day. The N64 version has its flaws, yes, but it is a very polished and well-executed game overall. The PS-X version feels like it was in still in debug mode when they released it.
