Cruisin’ USA is best played in an arcade because you’re more likely to get tired of it long before you reach the end. There is nothing particularly slick or memorable about this game. It’s a series of races from one end of the U.S. to the other. Though that’s not really true given about half of the races are in California and Arizona. The developers even decided to do a bizarre “warp” jumping from the Grand Canyon to Mount Rushmore in a single race. That sums up the general laziness of this title. Even the courses have a general cut-and-paste feel to them with the backgrounds changing a little bit from time to time. Basic game mechanics are okay, but watch out for collisions. They’re a real pain in the ass. Overall, there’s not much to this title and it is short. It’s a decent bet you’ll be thinking about playing something else before you get anywhere close to the finish, though.
