A 30-second review of Metroid Dread, by MercurySteam and Nintendo, for the Nintendo Switch!

It's been 18 years since the last original 2D Metroid, Fusion, and finally we're getting the 5th installment in the original storyline, 16 years after we learned about its development!

And boy was Dread worth waiting for! Gameplay is smooth and the "formula" has never been better! There's so many upgrades to find you may not want to beat the final boss til you get them all. (But hey, save your 100% run for next month!)

If I had one ding, it's the usual problem of getting stuck. The map and radar help a lot, but the world is so big it's sometimes hard to even find the doors you haven't breached even while they're right in front of your face.

Metroid Dread is triumphant. It's my 2021 Game of the Year and gets a 9.5 out of 10!
