You're Francis Vendetti, nephew of the great Johnson Vendetti, you're expected to be a folk musician as great as your uncle, but it's not what you enjoy doing. What follows is an adventure across the universe where you discover who you want to be and how to get there.
The game offers some of the most stunning visuals I've seen in a video game...ever. An absolute treat for the eyes. Unfortunately, the gameplay is dull and boring...and repetitive to boot. It amounts to just running left and right with the occasional jump.
The rhythm game elements are akin to that old toy, Simon, where something is played and then you repeat it. However, there's no penalty for failing (except to repeat it) and you can even start repeating the sequence while the sequence is being played to you. On top of all that, control issues preclude you from pressing the next button while the first is held down, so it doesn't feel good at all.
If this game has some better gameplay elements to go with the incredible visual displays going on and even threw in some collectibles to go find...it'd be a great one! Alas, not. It doesn't even have replay value, either, which is too bad because it's a fairly short 4-hour experience.
Since this game can be viewed through multiple lenses, I've decided to give it two review scores:
As a so-called "platform game," it gets a 6 out of 10.
As a properly-genre'd interactive novel, it gets an 8 out of 10.
