I love soulslicks and have played with a lot of similar games in recent years. This is confirmed not only by the number of reviews for projects in the genre, but also by several honestly earned platinum trophies. Despite the presence of a lantern as the main feature, unusual spells and new sensations from character control, LotF turned out to be a completely “soulless” game. And it’s not the presence of reference Dark Souls 3, Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring on the market, but the constant feeling of a lack of original content.

In some places, complex locations “overloaded” with enemies also hinder immersion. Of course, the appearance of the bosses is pleasantly surprising, and their actions are quite readable, taking into account some features, but noticeable copying of FromSoftware's developments often causes hostility. Everywhere you notice oddities in many elements of the gameplay.

In a similar setting, atmosphere and color scheme, the desire of the creators to achieve perfection is visible, however, without a large number of original ideas, it is unlikely that they will be able to overthrow the “king”. Lords of the Fallen managed to get as close as possible to this title, but it definitely failed to develop its potential to the limit. Hence the possible emergence of dual opinions about the game. Some gamers will really like the project with these common elements and new ideas, while others may be rejected in the very first minutes...
