Once on Disc 4, the Nero Family quest opens up, where after reaching a scene or defeating a boss in Memoria, you can return to Lindblum to see the next member of the family. There are 10 member's total and once Zidane comments on it, a new chest appears in the Tantalus hideout on the left containing a Protect Ring.

There are 18 total events that will open up the next Nero sibling. Due to time constraints, you only have to see the first 6 members before the Excalibur II. You can see the rest once the time constraint is off. The first event is available once you have control on the World Map, so head to Lindblum and park the Invincible next to the castle (do not dock the airship like you did the Hilda Garde 3) and enter through the Business District. Head straight to the Tantalus hideout for Zenero and Benero, beginning the quest.

Get back on the Invincible and head southwest toward the Lost Continent, wrapping around the world map and land next to the chocobo tracks on the Mitmakis Ice Field and call Choco. Head to the exact point where the Shimmering Island was and use a Dead Pepper to get Zidane's Ultima Weapon, then return to the Invincible but prepare the party for Nova Dragon as follows. Give Amarant the Green Beret and leave Freya's setup as is, then...

Now that Zidane has his strongest Thief Sword, give him equipment that maximizes Spirit + Strength for his damage potential. It also has Sleep as its status effect, which when used with Soul Blade will shut down any boss it works on. Another plus is that a sleeping target takes 1.5x physical damage, which we need to utilize.

Save before heading to the Iifa Tree.

Just like Silver Dragon, Nova Dragon also has max speed so it will take a few tries to get your foot in the door. With Auto-Haste, Zidane needs to get Soul Blade off immediately provided the ATB starts near full, unless Nova does a Psychokenesis against anyone but him. Once Nova is sleeping, set Freya Amarant and Steiner's attacks in order as Zidane's ATB nears full again. Freya's attack starts up slower giving you time to que up the other commands before she wakes him up. Once the boss is awake, it's turn is put at the end of the que so have Zidane get Soul Blade in before that.

Nova may counterattack, but you can recover that while Nova sleeps again, plus you can set up for Charge later if that is the case. I was counting damage, so Zidane's attack was enough to win.

Once the initial scenes in Memoria are over, leave at the entrance, keeping the same party, and return to the Tantalus hideout for Nero #3. Then return and save at the orb.
