In this part: Trent ends it all, taking thousands of Liberty and Rhineland naval airmen with him to hell in the process.

Edison Trent, formerly the recipient of the Liberty Lone Star of Bravery, and unsung hero and ace of the Nomad War: Nobody ever knew of his state of mind, or of any cause for why he went insane one day in Manhattan Space. It was generally said that the various oddities and quirks of the Sirius Sector bottled up within him until it one day exploded, but there was never any consensus as to what exactly was THE root cause of such. Some say that his journeys into the Unknown Systems allowed the Nomads or some unknown alien race, perhaps a race of sentient monkeys, to corrupt him. Some say it was all that exposure to Cardamine through trading, or Artifacts, or an overall mix of radiation, gases and poisons from virtually exploring every single base, planet and Jump Hole in Sirius. Some say it was the fact that all of the landmarks in every sector of Sirius space somehow existed on one horizontal plane that got to him, or how police in Bretonia apparently cared about some guy Samura and Kishiro had a vendetta with, or how somehow every planet and base in Sirius seems to have infinite health despite putting 10-15 Sunslayer Torpedoes into their hulls in rapid succession, the incessant repeated sounds of 'TRADE LANE DISRUPTED' that drove him insane, or allegations that his one-time partner, LSF Commander Jun'ko Zane, had been stringing him along and deliberately teasing him with the prospect of romance but never going anywhere. Some, meanwhile, just say that Trent secretly went mad the moment he saw Rheinland Battleships sitting smack in the Manhattan System and nobody was somehow batting an eyelash around him, or just that he was never able to find a decent Sidewinder Fang in all of Sirius, or the insanity was even a side effect of long-term consumption of Liberty Ale. It was even speculated that an unknown, sudden outside force simply compelled him to attack whoever he saw.

Sirius would never know, but one day Trent took his trusty Arwing Mercenary Very Heavy Fighter, laden with a mixture of Alien and Outcast weapons and systems and with armor and manueverability comparable to the Eagle, and suddenly went on a rampage about Planet Manhattan, indiscriminately attacking anyone and everyone that entered the area. Fighting madly, Trent would singlehandedly destroy hundreds of fighters and transports and even dozens of cruisers and battleships, including at least 7-8 Liberty Dreadnoughts and Rheinland Cruisers, without his Arwing taking much of a scratch. Thousands of lives would be lost to Trent's inexplicable rampage before Trent, with his Torpedoes and Mines running low and simply getting bored, decided to end his own life by flying his Arwing straight into Planet Manhattan's atmosphere, disintegrating himself and his plane completely.

Neither LSF Commander Jun'ko Zane nor President Jacobi could be reached for comment as to speculations on Trent's unknown rampage, though the LSF would issue a statement debunking certain rumors, asserting in particular that Trent and Juni were never romantically involved and that all rumors of the latter deliberately stringing him on were false. It was particularly stated "Trent and Juni two never even so much as hugged or shown any real interest in each other; The plot writers dictated that things stayed platonic while there was an alien bloody invasion going on anyway."
