Happy 30th Annyversary, Contra Hard Corps!
2What an awesome game. To me, this one sits at my top 3 Contra games EVER! (Super C, C3, HC).
HardCorps is famous for being a difficult game. I must confess, I never played it on 1994, only in the year 2000 I got my copy and oh boy, it was love at first play.
On this run, I had to repeatedly restart the game, to get it in one try. Special mention to the Sea level multi boss, for being such an ass and having almost random like patterns. You must be ON YOUR TOES constantly to kill it!
There is so much to talk about this game. Specially ALL the innovations and changes it brought to the saga. I loved most of them all. My fave are: Different routes, different characters with 4 different weapons each, slide move, Different endings.
What I didnt like: The list is short, the game feels like a continuous Boss Rush mode. Not that its a bad thing, but it would have been aswesome to have some well crafted levels, like C3 did.
Even so, Konami brought their A team for this. The game feels really content packed. Graphically its on par, and sometimes bests the Snes entry. Only the sound is limited for what the Genesis could do, and even so, the music is AWESOME. Control os flawless as well, albeit a bit tricky to get the hang of the new "On/Off" holding button.
An awesome game!
