LET’S GET EMOTIONAL OVER POST-GAME CONTENT - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Playthrough Episode 77
If I learned anything about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 over the course of these past 77 episodes, it’s that if they can make it sad, they will make it sad. And there’s no exception in today’s episode. This episode starts the post-game content, since the last episode saw me beating the game!
The first thing we do is go to the Fornis region to talk to Miibomii. I tried to talk to him earlier, when he first got released, but he said I would have to wait and come back after I had more experiences. What he meant was that I had to wait until the end of the game, which I did, and now I’m back to see what this little man is all about.
Turns out Miibomii is the way to get amiibo exclusive content without having to buy the amiibos, which I think is pretty cool. Fortunately for me, the two hardest rewards were for the amiibos of Noah and Mio and I got those for my birthday; I’ll have to grind for an insanely long time before I can earn those prizes through Miibomii. But the other two rewards were actually obtainable for me, but of course they were a callback to the previous games so I didn’t get it.
Moving on from Miibomii, we head to Agnus Castle to see how Ghondor is doing. She’s fine, but the Agnians living at the castle are nervous because some of them have been called to the city to have a meeting with the higher-ups. They were worried this might be retaliation for the death of Dana and her crew on the supply run from the castle to the City.
This is the first time these Agnians will be in the City, so of course, Ghondor had to instill as much fear as possible into them before they got there. Of course, we all know that the City leaders wouldn’t kill the Agnians just for being involved in the same mission as Dana and the others, but they didn’t know that. Fortunately, their torture was short lived, and peace is made. This leaves the Agnians to explore the City at their leisure, and perhaps even run into some new, and tiny, friends.
Finally, we stay in the City to hang out with Triton and his friend for a while. Triton made this friend recently and now they’re good drinking buddies. This friend tells Triton that his miso reminded him of the miso his father used to make and pair with the most delicious fruit he ever ate. Triton feels inspired to go out and find that delicious, legendary fruit.
Fortunately, we happened to find one of those exact types of fruit trees earlier in our journey, so it wasn’t too hard to track down the fruit. But this leads to one of the most jarring and upsetting endings in the entire game. It really did come out of left field.
So if you like sudden tonal shifts, lying to cause fear and discomfort, and/or trading stories for treasure, then this episode of my Xenoblade Chronicles 3 playthrough episode is for you!
